Texas

The last grizzly in Texas was killed in 1890 (Murray 1992, page 236).

Grizzlies were once found in the trans-Pecos region (Davis Mountains), and in the Guadalupe Mountains near the New Mexico border. There are no records elsewhere in West Texas so it appears they were restricted to these two ranges; the only ranges of montane conifer forest (Brown, 1985).
