Arizona

The last grizzly in Arizona was killed in 1935 (Murray 1992, page 236).

Grizzly distribution was centered in the east-central part of Arizona in the White Mountains, Escudilla Mountain, the Blue River drainage, and the Fort Apache and San Carlos Indian Reservations. Almost all records were above 3500 feet in elevation. Grizzlies were also found elsewhere in the state, particularly south-eastern Arizona (Brown, 1985).
