 Upper Madison/Taylor's Fork Project

Taylor's Fork objectives

  • Develop a landscape-scale (30m2 grid) least-cost-path model of core and movement habitat for a study area encompassing the upper Madison and Gallatin valleys centered on the Taylor's Fork and Bacon Rind drainages.
  • Overlay the results of this static habitat model with detailed grizzly bear location data and known movement routes (between 3.5-hour locations) in collaboration with the Interagency Grizzly Bear Study Team.
  • Statistically analyze the correlation between predicted and observed habitat use and the accuracy of the least-cost-path models.
  • Refine the models, if possible, to better fit the location data.
